Captain Robert Bennet Forbes House
Captain Robert Bennet Forbes House

Designed by Isaiah Rogers in 1833, the captain had the house built at 215 Adams Street for his mother, Margaret Perkins Forbes. It later became the summer home of the captain's son, James Murray Forbes, for whom Peabody & Stearns added the third floor servants quarters in 1872. In 1962, after the death of Mary Bowditch Forbes, it became a museum and is known today as the Forbes House Museum, open for tours Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday at 1 and 3 pm.
