Webb Mill |
In 1843 when Josiah Webb and Josiah Twombley began to manufacture chocolate in Milton, Walter Baker suspected an employee of sharing his chocolate making secrets with them. After enjoying a successful run of almost 40 years in the chocolate business Josiah Webb (by then sole owner of Josiah Webb & Co.) decided to retire and sold the company to his competitor Baker's. In 1882 Walter Baker & Co. built the present brick mill, designed by Bradlee & Winslow, naming it "Webb Mill" in honor of Milton chocolate maker Josiah Webb. |
